Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was born near Biran, Cuba, on August 13, 1926. At such a young age Fidel Castro was earning great respect as he was smart and wise with his words, exceeding in sports and academics. In 1945 Fidel Castro entered a law school university in Havana and joined one of the campus intellectual that spoke for political power. By 1950 Castro had earned his degree led the law student federation, founding member of a new liberal reformist party and participated in two foreign political uprisings, in Colombia and the dominican republic, that is still going on till this day.
Assault on the Moncada
Barracks
In 1952 Fidel Castro and his brother Raul created an underground revolutionary organisation and began military training, in 1953 Castro sent around 150 rebels to Moncada Barracks but failed as they were outnumbered and forced to evacuate. Many of Castro's men were killed but Castro and his brother were sentenced to 15 years in prison, Fidel Castro was given a trial and managed to speak out into the public with a 4 hour speech “History Will Absolve Me” the speech that kept hope in Cuba.
In May 1955 Batista released Castro and his brother out of amnesty, the Castro brothers then fled off to Mexico to plot and to take over Cuba. They then met Argentinian doctor, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara. Castro, Raul, Guevara and 80 other rebels formed another strike against Batista. In 1956 Castro and the men all sailed back with armory, weapons and supplies and off they were back to Cuba. On December 2nd Castro arrived at Playa Las Coloradas in Granma yacht in Cuba with his troops but again Batista's men over ran them, Castro, Raul, Guevara and who ever survived from the attack ran away into the mountains. Castro had then gathered another army as Cuba was going into a more corrupt and unequal position because of Batista. In 1958 Castro created a full attack on Batista, sent his troops into major towns and had already taken over the majority of the country, Batista then found himself out numbered and couldn't hold back anymore so he decided to leave Cuba. In January 1959 Castro returned to Havana as a hero.
"I began revolution with 82 men. If I had to do it again, I do it with 10 or 15 and absolute faith. It does not matter how small you are if you have faith and plan of action."

Cold War
After Batista's had left Cuba in 1959, Castro took over all the military and political power. The United States started to slowly recognise the friendly relationship with the Soviet Union and Fidel Castro. As United States found out they decided remove him by assassinating him which was done several times but all failed, economic blockade, and counter-revolution, including the Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961. Despite all these threats that were being showed by the United States, Fidel Castro formed an alliance with the Soviet Union and allowed them to place nuclear weapons on the island. What this did was spark the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In January 1961, the United States government severed diplomatic relations with Cuba and made sure they were ready for any type of invasions that were going to come in from Cuba. John F. Kennedy, Made it clear to the people of the United States and around the world that Fidel Castro and Cuba posed no threat to the U.S. but the new president believed that masterminding the Cuban leader’s removal would show Russia, China and doubtful Americans that he was serious about winning the Cold War.

Conclusion
In conclusion i would say that Fidel Castro played a major role for his country by leading them to success and keeping Cuba standing to this day. His machismo, his independence, his appeal to Cuban patriotism, his traditional appeal to the Cuban poor and stance against the rich was what made Cuba's people think of Fidel Castro as a hero for his people, Castro till this day is viewed as a great leader that made magnificent contributions and sacrifices for his country. Modern day Cuba might not be the same as how they were over 60 years ago, Mainly because of when the Soviet Union withdrew the support for Cuba, Since then Fidel Castro's role for Cuba became much smaller. Castro's contribution to the cold war was not big but with the Soviet Union going against America and the Soviet Union having an allies with Cuba they had somewhat of a contribution because Cuba allowed them to place the missiles on the island. What the Americans thought of it was a threat because the missiles had targeted mainly the United States. Through out my research i believe that Fidel Castro led his country to success during his time and was a great leader for his country.
